^ Ezra Koenig
With lyrics so unbelievably catchy and an incomparable nostalgic sound, Vampire Weekend holds a very special place in my heart as a band that has the capability of becoming a synonym for the word, “originality.” I discovered Vampire Weekend over a year ago and instantly fell in love with Ezra Koenig’s voice, one that sticks out above all other artists with its upbeat tone and graceful ease. His voice inevitably makes the song he sings fun because you can’t help but hear his passion strumming through his vocal pipes spitting out witty lines that will undoubtedly make you smile.
The band is composed of four members: Ezra Koenig (lead vocals, guitar, hand drum, and piano), Chris Baio (bass guitar), Chris Thomson (guitar and drums), and Rostam Batmanglij (organ, piano, chamberlin, harpsichord, vocal harmonies, shaker, drum and synth programming, producer, string arrangements, engineering, and mixing).Go Rostam!
Their debut album, Vampire Weekend, is flawless and I am perfectly willing to argue that point with you. The four guys graduated from Columbia, where they met and decided to form a band. I’m assuming they’re a pretty intelligent group of guys and that this is partly the cause of such clever lyrics that are essentially intriguing poems on their own. The album was self-produced after their graduation while the four of them worked full-time jobs! Thanks for all your hard work, boys!
